Right then. Let's start with the news regarding The Astral Traveller LP. First up, will be a single from the LP, in conjunction with Translation Recordings. 'Lightyears' / 'Delta Shift' will feature on TRNSL004, which should hopefully be out this side of Christmas. Following that, will be a second single from the LP, on Covert Operations. 'Juno' / 'Zero Gravity' will follow up on COV029, and the CD will be following shortly after on COVCD007. Ideally, I'd like there to be a 3rd 12" single, but it's looking unlikely.
Sci-Files Volume Six is complete. 'Epiphany' / 'Defiant To The End' are the tracks in question, and I'm toying with the idea of making them exclusive to the limited edition CD, which will be simply titled, 'The Sci-Files'. It will be accompanied by an 8-page booklet featuring all the artwork from volumes 1 to 6, plus a few other bells and whistles. More info nearer the time.
The Solar Empire LP is out now. For those of you not aware, me and Ezeekil took the LP back from Thermal, and released it recently on Covert Operations. You can grab a copy from the Covert Operations store now. Also out now, is another track by Solar Empire on the Red Mist compilation CD, 'The Sixth Extinction'.
The new Mindspan LP 'The Second Cycle' is coming along nicely. There's 6 tracks finished already, and I'm aiming for another 4. There's a bunch of stuff on the go right now, so we'll see which ones fit the bill once it's all done.
Friday - 19/09/08
Well, the major news to report is the LP will NOT be happening with Horizons now. Let's just say there was a a few things we couldn't agree on. The plan is to put the CD out on Covert very soon, with a 12" to follow as COV029, and then another 12" from the LP to follow on Translation 004. The CD will most likely be COVCD006, and we're looking at a late October release for it.
Sci-Files Volume 5 is out now. The two tracks featured are 'The Elements' & 'Blueprint'. You can check them out on the Covert website, and buy them now from the Covert store!
There's a video also doing the rounds at the moment, which features a short live DJ set & interview with me taken from the Bass Invaders night, in Zagreb, Croatia. Check it out here:
Still no major news on 'The Astral Traveller' LP to report yet. Hopefully soon, and then I'll put all the audio up aswell.
I've started work on the second Mindspan LP - actually, I should say I'm working on it a lot more frequently, since I actually started and finished a bunch of tracks a while ago now! Anyway, it's coming along nicely, and hopefully I can get it out on Covert before the end of the year. We'll see anyway.
Me and Brian at Translation have decided to scrap the tracks scheduled for TRNSL004, which were 'Eternal Sunshine' & 'Vectorscan'. It's a shame it took so long to come around, but I feel at this stage, I could provide a much better representation of my production skills, and something a lot more in line with what I've been doing with the LP. Look out for news on that, and I'll probably put those tunes up for download at some stage.
Gig wise, I'll be playing St. Louis, Missouri on the 30th of this month, and then heading over to England for the month. I was doing a tour, but unfortunately a bunch of promoters had to back out due to financial problems - basically the increase in airfare prices. I'll still be playing a handful of dates over there, including the Vibez Recordings night on 5th Sept, London, a gig in Zagreb, Croatia on the 13th, and the Subtle Audio night in Limerick, Ireland, on the 27th. If you are about, and want to hear some upfront drum & bass with some thought, then come and check it out!
Wednesday - 30/07/08
There's audio for ALL the forthcoming releases now, and I've even seperated the 'forthcoming' section into two parts, to make it a bit easier to navigate etc. Anyway, I'm not gonna write much on this entry, so I'll do a bigger update soon. Peace!
Saturday - 19/07/08
First things, first. European tour this September - 4th-30th. I'm in the process of sorting it out at the moment, and the legal stuff has all been taken care of, so it's going to happen. More info on that soon, and if you are a promoter reading this, and want to get in on the action, then hit me up ASAP.
You may have noticed that the site has reverted back to it's original colours. I decided it looked better this way, so that's the reason for reversion.
Onto the music stuff... a ton of stuff to report. First of all, the major news is the 'Astral Traveller" LP, which will be forthcoming on the Horizons Music Group. This LP will be the first LP on their new 'Inside' label, which is especially for deeper music, not necessarily aimed at the floor.
My idea with this LP was to create something that harked back to the ideals of what this music was all about in the mid to late 90's. I feel a lot of the vibes have gone missing these days, and that what I wanted to bring back. Without rehasing what I've been talking about too much, go and read my blog entry over at www.deepersounds.com. Anyway, more info on this when everything has been 100% finalised, which won't be long. Expect an update with audio / artwork, etc.
There's a bunch of other stuff happening aswell, such as a 3 tracks for a new Covert CD entitled 'The Tertiary System'. More info on that nearer the time, as I keep changing the plans for these type of things, and end up having to backtrack over this blog, and put things right!
Levitated Recordings are about to put out 'Deep Warp' by myself and Third Rail on LVTD010 vinyl. They've also signed 'Lost Planet' by the two of us, for a CD compilation which will hit later this year.
Red Mist Recordings have signed 'Dark Star' & 'Pulse Train' for a forthcoming 12". They've also snapped up 'Space Station Orta' by Solar Empire, for their forthcoming CD, 'The Sixth Extinction'.
'Caesium' has been signed by Vampire. Not sure what the plan with this is yet, but it may feature on the forthcoming Vampire LP along with 'Floating Point'.
I suppose I'd better get audio clips sorted for some of these new tunes I've mentioned now! Next update ;)
Monday - 12/05/08
Ok, ok, ok... massive neglect on my behalf for this page! 5 months or so! I suppose it does allow me to post a big mammoth update though, so here goes!
Right, where to begin... Ok, first of all, the label. Covert Operations has been picked up by LOAD Media. They will be handling exclusive distribution of all things vinyl from now on. The schedule has been changed a bit aswell. COV027 will see the release of IDEM finally, along with the remix of Windchime. COV028 will be the also long awaited ESS 12", and then 029 will be Polar. More info on all that stuff on the main site.
On the album/LP tip, things are pretty much as they were. I'm STILL waiting on Thermal to sort their shit out, but what can you do? The Vibez release date was also supposed to be this month, but this IS drum & bass, right?
While we're still on the LP topic, I've got a ton of new Sci-Files projects on the go, and the plan was to release a CD compilaion entitled "The Sci-Files Collection" or something similar, with Volumes 1-6 on, and possibly a bonus tune or two, depending on the running time. Hoping to do a low price budget CD release, for this, and release each volume individually (4-6) digitally aswell. More info later, once the tracks are all completed.
The 2008 European tour is still going to happen. It's looking likely that it will be September, since I have only now just received my travel permit, and we need to re-organise with the promoters, and give them ample time to promote. September works best for everyone involved, so we'll stick with that.
There's a few other things on the go right now aswell, such as a new 12" for Red Mist, and a track on their new CD, well a Solar Empire track to be precise. There's the Levitated 12" which will feature Deep Warp by me and Third Rail which will surface soon I think? lol, actually I have no idea. Anyway, just check the forthcoming section for some previews and some very loose release info. Ok, that's gonna wrap this entry up. Thanks for reading as usual, and have a good one!
Monday - 18/01/08
There's some changes in the air regarding Covert Operations, and I'll fill you in as soon as the t's are crossed, and the i's have been dotted - if you get my drift.
Sci-Files Vol 2 is out now, so go and pick up a copy from the Covert store! Volume 3 drops early March. I have to say that I'm extremely excited by this project, as it's an outlet for quality atmospheric dnb (yes it still exists!). Hoping to get a few more of the regular peeps involved very soon.
Smartbomb & Floating Point were picked up by Vampire. I'm happy to be working with Phil (Source Direct), as his music has been fundamental in creating my drum & bass heritage, as I'm sure it has to an awful lot of you reading this aswell.
Upon adding to this, I'm re-reading the last entry, and it seems like my plans change a fair bit! This time, through no fault of my own. Anyway, rather than ramble, I'll wait until I can fill you all in, since it's in regards to the label. I think that will do for this update. Check out the Myspace as usual for the latest clips - 6 tunes in all up there right now - Audio for Sci-Files Vol 1/2 & the two tunes signed to Vampire. Until next time.... peace out.
Sunday - 13/01/08
First and foremost; A happy belated new year to you all! Lot's of exciting things lined up for this year, whether they all come out this year is another thing. Drum & Bass, deadlines and dates - It's like oil and water. Anyway, not to get too despondant!
First up is likely to be "Spaced Out" on Global Connections 3. I'm still deciding whether its worth the risk financially to press up this compilation on CD aswell as releasing it on MP3 to all the major places. I'll be deciding soon, since it's gonna be out at the end of the month. Following that, I'm hoping to get test presses for COV028. Some of you may have realised I have taken back the Windchime remix from Inperspective, and the reason was there were a lot of broken promises and nothing was moving, so I thought it would be best to do it myself. I've moved the schedule about a bit for Covert, and this will be COV028 now, and Comet Charge & IDEM will be 029. Ideally, I'd love to get them both out ASAP, but the main reason for this was the Windchime remix has been sat about longer, so it needs to be out ASAP in my opinion.
After that, well I guess the long awaited 2nd ASC & Mav plate will be approaching release on Cov Ops Ltd. Plans have changed with this aswell, and this plate will now feature just 2 tunes - Lunar & Global Connections. Retract will be coming out on Collective Records, backed with a remix by... well, I'll tell you later.
Anyway, rather than rehash my forthcoming list with running commentary, have a look for yourself, and check out the clips. Finally, theres 4 new tunes you can check out up on the Myspace page - Smartbomb, forthcoming on Source Direct's Vampire Records, Floating Point, which is still unsigned, The Rain & Auxiliary, both of which are also unsigned. All brand new, so give it time, and they'll be assigned homes no doubt!
Actually, I lied. One more thing. Euro Tour '08 - May this year! More info soon! ;)
Sunday - 07/10/07
Ok, it's update time. Me and Ezeekil have finished the Solar Empire LP. Thermal now have it, and it's been approved, but it probably won't see light of day until early next year. Speaking of Thermal, Heights Of Perception is going to be sent to mastering / manufactured within a few weeks at the max. I really can't wait for that to come out, since it's been completed and sat about since November 2005 now!
Studio wise, I've not been upto much recently. Taking a break from it all really, as I've just been non-stop with projects this year. My hard drive is full to the brim of tracks that need finishing, and I might try and get some more bits done before the next gig, but having said that, there's a few new things to talk about. A new track I did called "Displaced" which is up on the Myspace player right now, and also a remix I did of a new tune by Polar, called "Another Time". This should be released with his brand new LP, as either a remix 12", or part of a remix EP. More details on that, including label etc. later on.
I'll be playing at a new dnb night in San Francisco very shortly (October 21st to be precise), along with Aaron Myers & Method One. It's being held at Element Lounge, which I have no idea about, but the pics look nice, so if you are about, come on down and check out the vibe.
Not much else to say for now, so I'll leave it at that.
Thursday - 06/09/07
Check out Mary Anne Hobbs' show on BBC Radio 1 tonight for an exclusive mix by Vaccine. Christine's mix features a load of new bits by her and by me under my Intex Systems name. It will be broadcast tonight at 2AM GMT.
Saturday - 01/09/07
Just a quick one: all the audio has been updated, so there's now sound clips for all forthcoming releases including the Vibez project.
Saturday - 25/08/07
Right, this is probably gonna be a long one, so get a coffee or something.
Just finished the European tour last Tuesday, and overall it was a big success. In the end I only managed 7 gigs, and originally, I did have 12 planned, but as usual, flakey promoters, and last minute comittments, stuff fell through. If you want to read more about the tour, then goto my Myspace blog - http://blog.myspace.com/ascintexsystems.
Also, here's a nice little YouTube video clip collection of some tunes/mixes from the gig I played in Sopot, Poland.
For those of you asking what tracks were on the video, here's a tracklist of sorts, in order. Note that some tracks are in the mix and others are on the video for a matter of seconds:
01 - ASC & Third Rail - Deep Warp
02 - ASC & Chris J - IDEM
03 - ASC - Mainframe
04 - Illformants - The Bizarre
05 - ASC - Comet Charge
06 - Electrosoul System - Disk Failed
While we're on the gig tip, I played at LA's finest dnb night, Muse, last night and it went down really well. Dropped a lot of new stuff to look out for, including:
ASC & Third Rail - Deep Warp
ASC & Third Rail - Lost Planet
ASC & Third Rail - Skylight
Dragonsword - Centre Of The System (ASC Remix)
There's a heap of new tunes on the Myspace right now, including Energy Core, Mainframe, Shockwave '07 and an unfinished old school atmospheric thing called Oceanography. Check out http://www.myspace.com/ascintexsystems.
There should be 5 ASC 12's about to drop in the next month or so. Funny how that happens huh? You get stuff signed, and it sits about for years, and then everyone decides to release it at the same time? Hehe. Doesn't really happen like that; just more of a coincedence really! Anyway, here's what's about the drop:
Vibez LP update time. The tracklist has been finalised, and there'll be 7 tracks in total for this project. They are as follow:
01 - Clear Skies
02 - Mainframe
03 - The Fugitive
04 - Alphane Moons
05 - Find A Way
06 - Axis
07 - Del Mar
I'm told there will also be two remixes of 2 of those tracks by other Vibez artists. More info to follow
Finally, on the dubstep tip, I've had two release out very recently. First up is "Destroy" on Hot Flush 015 (part 2), with the missus' tune, "Anaesthetic" on the flip. Then there's "Spectral" / "Titan" (Scuba Remix) out on Dubline Audio aswell. Both are released under my Intex Systems name.
Saturday - 26/05/07
Ok, lots to report. The tour is looking like it should be a success. I say "should be" since these things can always go wrong at the last minute. I'll post up a full intinery when its all 100% confirmed. I "should be" playing in England, Ireland, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania, Russia and a few other places. Anyway, as I said, more nearer the time.
Studio wise, there's also some activity to report. Me and Ezeekil finished off two more tracks for the impending Solar Empire LP on Thermal. "Mobius Ring" & "Relay" are the tracks in question. Audio will follow soon. We've got two more tracks to finish, and hopefully we'll have them done by the end of June, and get the masters sent off to Thermal. I've been taking a break from the drums and the bass for a while and been on the dubstep tip. I blame the wife as it's clearly her influence! Anyway, I've signed 4 tracks under the Intex Systems name to London based Hotflush Recordings. Hopefully, all should see the light of day this year. Back to the drum & bass stuff, and if you check the Virb.com page, you can hear a couple of new bits I've done. "Alphane Moons" is some moody techmospheric stuff, which Covert fans should be into, and there's a more smoother roller that I recently finished with Chris J, called "IDEM". Neither are scheduled for release yet, but hopefully I can get them out on Covert this year.
Mindspan. This is a project I've been working on for the last 6 months in the background and between other projects. I've been massively into and influenced by Basic Channel and all of their labels (especially Chain Reaction) ever since I was introduced to them a while ago. I made a few tunes in a similar style under the Intex Systems name a while ago - 2 featured on the Research & Development LP - and the other two you can download for free from the Intex Systems site. See the Contact page for a link. Anyway, I digress. I set out to write minimal techno with dub influences and droning atmospheres and soundscapes. The result was an 11 track LP which I just finished off. If you are interested in hearing this, then again, check the Contact page for a link. If not, keep reading, back to the dnb!
Finally, the Vibez LP has turned into an EP, or "mini LP". The reason being is that Subject 13 decided to do dual artist concept LP's. Not sure how the vinyl is gonna work out yet, but I've been told that the CD version will be a double CD. One artist per CD. 8 tracks per CD. 4 drum & bass, 2 non drum & bass, and 2 remixes. Artists confirmed are Amaning, Survival & Future Engineers. Not sure who I will be sharing the project with just yet. Should be fun though!
Friday - 06/04/07
More LP work is underway, and it's forming quite nicely. "Space Station Orta" is the latest one to start taking shape, and its roots are firmly planted in 1996. Seeds have been planted for a few other new tunes aswell, and it's getting exciting to see it all forming. More news on this, and of course audio, once a few things have been finalised.
I've anounced that I'm going to be in Europe for a tour July / August this year. I was planning on going over to the UK to see my family, so I thought it has been quite some time since I played in Europe, so this came about. Response has been positive so far, so hopefully things will pan out nicely. If you are a promoter, or know of one, then get in touch with me - asc@cov-ops.co.uk or on AIM - ascintex
Some news from Thermal... Looks like Thermal is set to make its long waited return with 2 singles via Nu Urban USA. After these singles are both released, my 'Heights Of Perception' LP will finally see light of day, and a single from the LP (including 'The Synthetic' and another track that I need to decide on) will be released first, and then a 3x vinyl for the LP and a CD will feature. Thermal also reiterated their desire to get the Solar Empire LP out within a few months of this, so it's time for that to return from it's miniscule hiatus. lol.
And finally, I decided to test to see if people actually read this, as sometimes it feels like I'm talking to myself! So, the first person to email me at asc@cov-ops.co.uk, I will send a copy of the Intex Systems 'Research & Development' LP to. Can't say fairer than that huh?
Sunday - 29/03/07
Well not much to report (lol, I always say that and then write 3 pages), but I've been doing a few more dubstep bits. I've put audio up of these, and a few other bits on my Virb page. I'll put the link at the foot of this blog entry.
I decided to finish off the remix I did of Blame's "Alpha:7", since I never considered the first version finished - rather just some exclusive bit to play out. It turned out totally different than the start I'd made, and in the end, I scrapped that and started fresh. Audio for that is on the Virb page too. There's some other dnb bits on the go, including a fresh new amen tune called "Dynamics" which is sounding nice, and there's another piece which is untitled and I'm not gonna try and explain what style that one is. It will probably be on the LP anyway.
"Comet Charge" got a much needed new mixdown, but again, still not happy with that one. Every now and then, I do a track, and it gives me a load of grief when mixing down - this seems to be that track!
Finally, Solar Empire LP is kind of on hold for a while, since Thermal have changed distro's and I'm busy with the new ASC LP, so that will get some more attention later down the line, so the tracks aren't sat about for years and years. Ok, that will do for now. Here's the link:
It's been non-stop work recently on the two LP projects I have on the go right now. Plenty of stuff happening on the LP front, a new track called "Oceanography" is nearing completion, and is heavy on the hipnotic chilled vibe. There's a few others already done for this LP, including "Axis", "Clear Skies", and "Find A Way", all of which you can hear in the Forthcoming > Unsigned section, even though they aren't unsigned. They can stay in that section until I have a bit more of the LP done, and then I'll make a new section for it, but anyway, that's neither here or there. lol.
The Solar Empire LP, due for release on Thermal later this year, is really shaping up nicely. Me and Ezeekil need to put the finishing touches to "Mobius Ring", "Relay" & "Space Device" anytime soon, and then there's another few we have started that need work on, including "Afterlife", "Epilogue", "Nova Scotia" and an untitled downtempo piece. The whole LP has been really fun to work on so far, as collaborating with other people gives tracks new ideas and outcomes.
I'm trying to decide what to do with the Series 5 tracks that got cancelled due to a pressing plant problem we had. Needless to say, we won't be offering any of the subscription series vinyl offers again anytime soon, so I have either got to shop them around and get them out, or put them in the queue for Covert. More news on this soon. On a slightly related tip, I have decided to schedule Nuance's "Tread" for a 12" single release this year, since I've had that track signed for a while now, and I really felt bad for Nuance since this was to be his first release. Anyway, look for that after the Future Engineers 12" on Covert.
While I'm still typing... I'm shopping "Orbit" & "Critical Orbit" around to labels at the moment, so depending on who bites, it should be lined up pretty soon. If no one goes for it, it will definitely come out this year, since both tunes have been getting great responses and rich feedback, so I believe they are too good to be sat around gathering dust - same with "Comet Charge" aswell. More news on this soon aswell!
Finally, I'm about to start on a collab with Subject 13. Should be interesting! Speaking of collabs, me and Method One, started a promising track at his studio when I was in san Francisco recently and we need to find the time to finish that I reckon. Anyway, that will do for now.
Wednesday - 14/02/07
An update! Crazy huh?! If you are wondering why I've been neglecting my little site, then head over to www.deepersounds.com and find out!
Back to the music... The San Francisco gig went pretty well, there was a great response to some of the new tunes I played, in particular a new one I made called "Comet Charge" which seems to be all the rage with the cool kids right now. "Critical Orbit" went down well, and as you might deduce from the title, it's an extension of the "Orbit" theme. I say this, as it's not really a remix in the true sense. Anyway, I'll be sorting out homes for this and a few of my other new tunes very soon.
Been working on the LP, and a few new sketches for the Solar Empire LP. Busy times at the moment, and hopefully I'll have some new audio to put up very soon.
Saturday - 08/01/07
I've been doing a fair bit of work for this new deep and atmospheric site, which should be your first and only stop on the net for anything related to this sound. It's gonna feature a LOT of content, and it's taking a while to complete, but it will be worth it for sure!
I'll also be playing in San Francisco on the 30th January, here are the flyer images:
Hope you all had a good new year and Christmas. I took a big break since the 24th and haven't done anything since. Just updated the studio and bought myself some nice Dynaudio monitors and upgraded the studio PC. There's a few Solar Empire stuff on the go which needs completing for the LP, so that's a priority right now. More info when I actually have something to say lol
Saturday - 24/12/06
It's now 3:30am in the morning and I've finally finished the audio updates. Everything is up and running now and if there's any broken links, then feel free to email me. I decided against the old unreleased stuff section because of 2 things - 1, I've had enough encoding audio lol, 2, I don't want my old shit on the net hehe.
Also, Thermal will be putting out ANOTHER LP by me next year - well by me and Ezeekil. We decided we would take the tracks we had signed with Thermal, and the other tracks we took back from Vibez, and add some new material. It will be a great LP when it's finished, we're both positive of that, so look out for The Secrets Of Time sometime next year on Thermal.
Saturday - 23/12/06
Big audio update.. ugh. Took me quite some time, and the end is in sight.. well not quite yet. I've still got to add audio for the latest 3 LP's, including the unreleased Thermal one, which should be out in Feb/Mar 07 btw, and then I'm gonna goto work on the forthcoming section, and THEN add an unreleased section to the forthcoming, and the discogrpahy - so the old unreleased stuff will go in the discography unreleased page, and the new unsigned stuff, will be under the similar tab on the forthcoming page! Nice and simple huh?
Friday - 22/12/06
Translation 002 - Atlantic Breeze / Sunrise is out now! Go get yourself a copy.
Tuesday - 19/12/06
So the Offworld Tides remix is done. I love working on remixes, as it's basically a re-arrangement of an original idea. Since the original Offworld Tides had a lot going on, this was a great remix to work on. All in all, it has taken me 3 days from start to finish to get this remix done, and I'm happy with it. Audio will be up some time soon. Next up, might be the Shockwave remix. Aftershock, was kind of a remix, but it deviated from the Shockwave theme a bit, so that's more like a "part 2". I also might leave it a bit, since it will be a while from release date going by the rate that the current Covert stuff is moving at with the distributor. Oh well. Right, I'm typing for the sake of typing. Enough of that.
Monday - 18/12/06
It's been relatively quiet here for the last week or so, as I've been doing a lot of the boring side of work, and not much time in the studio. It was good to finally get back in to things this weekend, and I've started to put the parts together for the Offworld Tides remix that should be on the flip to the Windchime remix, which will come out next year sometime on Inperspective. The catalogue number is still to be decided, and I'm not sure how fast things are coming out with their current release schedule, but rest assured, it won't be too long.
Other than the remix, there's the odd thing here and there that I've been messing with, and a few things are showing promise. More news when and if they develop past the ideas stage. I kind of lost interest with that drum machine track, but with a little effort and a few fresh ideas, I can probably turn it around into something strong in no time. There's also this drum & bass tune that goes into dubstep half way through instead of breaking down. Again, no idea if it will get finished.
There's audio for the first 20 releases, including a little sub-page for the Environments LP. I'll do that with all the LP's I think. More audio to come soon!
Friday - 08/12/06
Not much to report (I say that, and then write half a page...), but I've been working on something which is pretty out there as far as whats concerned normal in today's scene, even by my own standards. The whole track is a collage of drum machine hits from old Roland, Boss, Akai, Emu machines. It's been fun to work on, but as to whether it will come out, I'm not sure yet. I'll post up audio when it's finished.
I've been sat here resting after my game of football today, and re-listening to the Thermal LP - Heights Of Perception. I'm particularly glad that Thermal have got their distribution crisis sorted out, and things are on the move again with this LP. I'm still totally please with the outcome of this, and I'm looking forward to hearing peoples reactions when it drops. I guess I should put some audio up sometime soon!
Speaking of audio, I had a brainwave to put audio of all of my releases to date, and the unreleased stuff, AND the forthcoming stuff as it happens. It will be a bit of a mission, actually, it will be a lot of a mission, but something I feel will be worthwhile. Anyway, that will do for now!
Tuesday - 05/12/06
There's a new mix I've just finished, which got posted to a few forums, so here's the link for the thread on the Covert forum: CLICK HERE.
Music wise, I've been really busy working on the album still, and also sorting out a few other projects. Something of note for those waiting for the Solar Empire EP on Vibez - this will NOT be happening anymore. No bad blood between me, Joe (Ezeekil) & Vibez, just a few problems mainly with the distribution company and Vibez, so these tracks will feature early next year on Thermal, along with the rest of the Solar Empire EP, but more info on that later and once the details have been locked down.
Since that EP on Vibez is no more, I now have Starbeams back in my posession again. This is still a firm fave of mine, so I've decided to put it on the next Limited Edition Series, which will be released 25th January 2007. The other tracks on my plate will be Aftershock & Datastream. As you can see, it's pretty much 3 a-sides on one 12" - can't beat that for value!
The ASC & Mav collabs will see light of day very soon aswell. Just sent for mastering is COV024 - Too Deep For Ya / Sceptical. I'm hoping to do these on clear vinyl, or some sort of limited edition form of vinyl anyway. More news on this as it happens. The other 3 collabs we have completed, will be out on Limted Edition Vinyl Series 5.
Ok, since I'm in a typing mood, I might aswell keep going and tell you what else is happening, so here goes. Translation 002... Your guess is as good as mine at this point - these tracks are now over 2 years old and have been signed just as long aswell. I have no idea what the delay is, as when I speak to the label, I'm always assured it will be out very soon.
I've signed Dreamstate to Paradox's Outsider Recordings. The catalogue number is OUTSIDER018, and promo's should hit early next year some time.
There's a 12" completed for Flatline Audio. The tracks in question are Inertia / Shredder. They have also signed a remix I did of Robot Death Squad's "Ghetto Child". More release info on these pieces when I have it.
There's been a delay with my Nerve release. Nerve recently lost their distribution, so with them luck as they acquire a new one! NERVE021 - The Pursuit / Frozen Shores, will probably be out first quarter of 2007.
Also up soon, is Warm Communications 012, which features the tracks Greyscale & The Fugutive. 011 is out on promo now, so this release shouldn't be too far off! Warm Communications have also yet to put out Del Mar by me aswell, and this also shouldn't be too far away.
Thermal look set to overcome their distribution nightmare of 2006 - hence why you hardly saw any releases from them - and things will start with a bang in 2007. Around about Jan/Feb time, you will be getting the ASC LP - Heights Of Perception. Also hitting around about the same time, or slightly after, will be the first Solar Empire EP.
Last but definitely not least, is the first release on the new Vaccine label. Vaccine is a dubstep label started by me and the missus, particularly to showcase both of our material in this genre. If you are unaware of the name just yet, you should take note that the missus has recently been signed to Hotflush subsidiary, Scuba, also under the name Vaccine. Exciting times for sure! Look out for VACCINE001 - Intex Systems - The Depths, and on the flip is Transfer featuring Solar Empire writing buddy, Ezeekil.
Ok, that's a fair bit of news for now, so enjoy, check out the audio in the forthcoming section, and on the Myspace pages!
